Pega Upgrade issues with Postgre Single Server in Azure

We are currently onprem with oracle DB Pega 7x and migrating to Azure with Pega 8.7. Given Azure SQL Db is supported with Gaps, we opted to go for PostgrePaaS.

Now, as per Pega Update Guide Pega 8.7 is available on Single Server -

https://docs-previous.pega.com/platform-support-guide

Pega supports Single Server. Flexible Server will be supported in a future release.

However, as per Microsoft Azure Guide the PostgreSQL 11 in Single Server is available only until November 9, 2024 ( https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/postgresql/single-server/concepts-version-policy ) and after November 2024, those with single server need to be migrated to Flexi Server.

Which is why we urgently need to know if Pega will have a release for 8.7 that is compatible with PostGre flexible server

@mitrarii I believe this enhancement request is logged under EPIC-80544 (Certify Azure Database for PostgreSQL - Flexible Server).

I am unable to determine the roadmap for this feature but it will not be in the versions you have listed.

@LONGJ do you happen to have any feedback on this?

@MarijeSchillern thanks for responding to the query.

I understand Pega doesn’t yet Certify Azure Database for PostgreSQL - Flexible Server but is there any particular issue you have observed if we install Pega on Flexi server?

Since Single server support ends on November 2024 , is it possible for us to use flexi server as of now or has Pega observed any blockers with flexi server ?

Request your help with this ugently please

@mitrarii I have verified with our SME’s and they are not aware of anyone who as ever installed the product in the Flexible server. For the same reasons, we cannot comment on any know issues with the product.

Therefore to your question ‘is there any particular issue/blockers we have observed for users installing Pega on Flexi server’ we would have to say that we are unable to answer this as we are not aware of anyone who has tried this.

Adding support of flexible server is on the roadmap but it will not be in the listed timeframe .

You mention the November 2024 cut-off for the DB vendor - we would suggest that you not use flexi server as of now to avoid possible issues we would not be able to help you with. Also be aware of the Extended Support Policy.
