Does Pega support OpenSearch in place of Elastic Search?

According to our understanding the target deployment mode of Pega platform will require the externalization of the Elastic Search component.

I would like to know if in the Pega evolution roadmap is foreseen the support to OpenSearch in place of Elastic Search.

@AleMax225

Hi,

I believe you are talking about the Search externalization using Search and Reporting service and external Elasticsearch.

As you may have seen SRS is a micro service that can be deployed, upgraded independent to Pega Infinity Platform.

SRS is currently certified to support Elasticsearch (versions 7.17), you can refer to SRS helm charts for information about latest versions supported by SRS.

To your question about support for Opensearch, internally the product team will evaluate such feasibility and based on priorities as well as requests from multiple customers, this can be taken up in future. Please do watch out the SRS helm charts for the latest supported versions of Search technology.

@subrs6 we would also be greatly interested in a support for OpenSearch, since we already have an environment as well as ressources and skill in place. This would greatly benefit us and thus result in a faster adoption of the current Pega deployment model.

@subrs6 @Santhosh_Holla we have exactly similar requirement in Commonwealth Bank(CBA). We are planning to leverage OpenSearch for search functionality. Could you please evaluate and guide us whether it is supported now as part of the stack.

Generally, Organization prefer to stay the platform/cloud provider locked without opting for the external third party or marketplace components.

Example for aws:

  • Eks for pega
  • Ecr for images
  • Aurora postgres for sql db
  • Opensearch for elastic search *
  • Msk - for kafka
  • Keyspaces - for casssandra *
  • limited support is available with pega for client managed cloud envs.
