PEGA with and without external ElasticSearch

May I know what is different in term of search capability between install Elasticsearch and without install Elasticsearch?

Is a word document uploaded to PEGA can be searchable without install Elasticsearch?

Is it possible to install PEGA without Elasticsearch? Can provide further details ?

@MichaelC17069769 With default Pega Installation you get Elasticserach as part of the product. The main change which pega is moving forward is to externalize Elasticserach so that it can be more maintained easy for cloud deployment and scalability.

If you do not use the elasticsearch then the rule search function in the platform both from dev studio and case search will not work, all other functionality will work as is.

​​​​​​Hi, On a separate note, we are also planning to migrate from embedded elastic search to Pega Search and Reporting Services(SRS).

It is mentioned 2 components:

i. Search and Reporting Service (SRS)

ii. Elasticsearch/OpenSearch service

Do we to complete both the steps in order to achieve the Elastic search functionality? Or just 1st one? We are planning to deploy it in On-Prem VM based.

And can you please send me the implementation guide based on my above requirement? Appreciate your help.
