As stated in the last CAD (“Third Party Vendor Platform – Quarterly Communication”)
The Pega Search and Reporting Service (SRS) will support the OpenSearch platform (in addition to existing Elasticsearch support)." from Pega 25.
Can you give any details yet regarding this support (supported versions, supported managed offerings, deployment options, …)?
Any further information on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
@FlorianB1448 : Yes, we are currently working towards providing support for OpenSearch along with Elasticsearch for our OnPrem/CloudChoice customers as part of Search And Reporting(SRS) service.
As part of this, please find below some additional information:
1) Supported Versions: The current plan is to support OpenSearch server version 1.3, and few versions within 2.x.
2) Provisioning Options for OpenSearch: Connectivity from SRS to externally provisioned OpenSearch instances will only be supported.
3) Artifact Changes: Due to the significant divergence between OpenSearch and Elasticsearch, it has been challenging to provide support using a single version of the SearchAndReporting artifact. Therefore, we plan to offer separate(new) artifact of SRS for OpenSearch deployments.
4) SRS Deployment and Helm Changes: Based on the current progress, I do not foresee any major changes. I expect the deployment process will remain the same as it is for Elasticsearch.
5) Supported Platform Versions: Since communication between the Pega Platform and SRS occurs via REST API calls, once the aforementioned changes are implemented, they will also be compatible with older versions of the platform, such as 24.x versions and others.
Note: Since the work is still InProgress, please do anticipate few changes to above pointers if any!
Thanks.
@redds19 Thanks for insight. This gives us some more context for our planning
