Upgrade Pega 7.1 to 8.3

We are upgrading pega 7.1 to 8.3

We are using FSIF 7.15 in Pega 7.1

Could you please let me know

When we upgrade from pega 7.1 to 8.3, do we need to upgrade FSIF as well? If so which version of FSIF will be compatible with pega 8.3. do we have any document for this framework compatibility?

@Nandhini.Mani

Is there any reason why you are not updating to the latest Pega and Pega Foundation for Financial Services version?

See details on how Pega Infinity software suite releases (release 8.x and later) enter Extended Support on the following estimated schedule.

Also see required critical hotfixes for these earlier releases:

You would need to request several hotfixes for Pega Foundation for Financial Services (PFFS) 83.)

Here is some further reading on updates.

For the most recent versions, see this article . Also see the Release Notes.

@MarijeSchillern Thanks for the quick response.

Upgrading from 7.1 to 8.3 is the requirement we got from Client.

@Nandhini.Mani understood.

Could you mark my answer as ‘Accept Solution’ if you’re happy with the information provided?

@Nandhini.Mani Here is some more information.

FSIF renamed as Pega Foundation for Financial Services (PFFS) during our 7.31 release time frame.

PFFS 8.3 is compatible with Platform 8.3 version.

Here is the link for complete documentation of PFFS r8.3.

Besides, we recommend our customers to follow the steps directed in our Upgrade guide while upgrading to PFFS r8.3.

Hope this helps.

Hi as we are planning to do upgrade from Pega 7.1 to 8.6 and FSIF 7.15 to 8.6.

Could you please help me to understand from where we will be getting below files

  1. FSIF 7.21 distribution media
  2. FSIF 7.21.1 distribution media
  3. FSIF 8.6 distribution media

@MarijeSchillern

Thank You.

I have gone through the upgrade guide of FSIF.

I have seen in some actions like verify higher version, restart server and verify applications in FSIF 7.15 to 7.21 and FSIF 7.21 to 7.21.1 guides.

But unable to find any post upgrade actions in FSIF 8.6.

Do we have anything to be verified post upgrade of FSIF 7.21.1 to 8.6

@MarijeSchillern : Your explanation cleared my doubts. Thank you so much.

@MarijeSchillern : If we are upgrading pega from version 7 to 8 but not upgrading PFFS from version 7 to 8. will it cause a problem? or PFFS 7 is compatible with pega 8 version as well?

@Nandhini.Mani I don’t believe so. See the original article I posted:

The recommended method is to follow this upgrade guide to upgrade from 7.15 to 7.17 first.

Then when running Pega Foundation for Financial Services 7.17, perform a sequential upgrade to release 7.21, and then to 7.21.1. A direct upgrade from release 7.17 is not supported.

You can upgrade to Pega Foundation for FinancialServices 8.3 from releases 7.21.1 and later.

For more information, see the Pega Foundation for Financial Services Upgrade Guide for a previous release on the Pega Foundation for Financial Services product page.

@Nandhini.Mani all software can be downloaded from here where you can request shipments and upgrades of products already licensed by your company.

You can read the Update guides here.

@Nandhini.Mani if there’s nothing mentioned in the documentation then I believe we are good to go.

Feel free to ask this as a new question if you would like an SME to pick up on this FSIF 8.6 specific upgrade question.
