Pega upgrade from v 7.1.7 to 8.24.1 including Pega frameworks

Hello,

We are on Pega 7.1.7 and we want to do an upgrade to Pega Infinity 24.1 along with frameworks.

We want to know if this upgrade possible, or do we need to do an upgrade to intermediate versions in steps.

You can directly upgrade from Pega 7.x to Pega Infinity 24.

@palaa1 I have gone through this link before asking this question. For the framework upgrade it says

Updating from release 7.17 or 7.21: Updating from older versions of Pega Foundation for Financial Services is a multi-step process, therefore updating directly from release 7.17 to 8.24 is not recommended due to schema updates in releases 7.21 and 7.21.1. Follow these steps for the suggested best approach: • Upgrade from release 7.17 to 7.21 • Upgrade from release 7.21 to 7.21.1 • Upgrade from release 7.21.1 to 8.24 .

If I rephrase the question again, Do we need to upgrade the framework only in multistep approach? Or the same process will be applicable to the applications using those framework where multistep upgrade process is required?

t appears to be a significant upgrade from version 7.X to 8.24.1.

If you are using Pega Cloud, the Pega Cloud team will handle most tasks during the upgrades.

If you are on-premise, please review the Upgrade guide documents for both strategic applications and platforms to ensure the schema changes and other considerations are performed as per the upgrade guide.

Yes, It would be a significant upgrade. We are using on-premise.

Instead of upgrading whole framework and application, can we only upgrade the application rules?

Here are the steps - Run upgrade scripts in lower environment, create the product with application specific rules. Take the jar files, install the product into separate environment where latest version of PRPC and framework already installed.

Q: We have 2 other frameworks PEGA OBFS and PEGA PDFS. We are planning to upload the latest compatible JAR to Pega infinity 24.1.1. Would it be any problem?

A: You can upgrade from 7.1.7 to 7.22 and then to 24.1. There should not be any problems with that path. Regarding PDFS and OBFS.
