Question on Operators & Workgroups

Hello

I’m doing the System Architect mission in Pega Academy and I have a question about a sentence in the Pega Academy training mission. I suspect this is a mistake.

This comes from this page :

An operator must be associated with at least one work group and belong to more than one work group.”

What is the difference between being associated with a work group and belonging to a work group?

Why must an operator belong to more than one work group?

Thanks in Advance!

Chris

Hi ,

In real time one operator/user may be responsible to different type of works , to get access that work he needs multiple work groups.

Operator must be associated with at least one work group: It means operator should have at least one work group,

only one Work Group will be active at a time if we have multiple work groups , We need to switch b/w different work groups if we have more than one

And operator can have more than one work group .below is screenshot

@ChrisSkinner

In Pega Work-Group is to identify to which department the user belongs to and which department tasks can be assigned to them like that.

Without Work-Group we will not be able to determine to which department the users belongs to…

For an example:

Associated with One Work-Group

  • If user is responsible for accessing only accounting team tasks alone, then you could create a separate Work-Group for Accounting Team and add that in respective user operator profile. By using Work-Group associated with user operator profile you can build security related features and assign the valid and needed tasks to respective users.

Associated with Multiple Work-Group

  • If a same user is responsible for accessing both accounting and HR team tasks, then you could create a separate Work-Group for Accounting and HR Team and add that in respective users operator profile. By using Work-Group associated with user operator profile you can build security related features and assign the valid and needed tasks to respective users.

Thank you for replying. It seems that the sentence in the traning should say that a user May or Can be associated to multiple workgroups but not that they Must be associated to multiple groups. Do you agree?
