Pega upgrade from 6.3SP1 to 8.6.1

Hi,

We are upgrading from pega 6.3 SP1 to pega 8.6 version. This upgrade took us 3 months because of some issues we faced. If we develop some code in 6.3 version in this span, can we export the product from 6.3 version and can we import the same in 8.6? If not, is there any way where we can import the changes in new 8.6 environment
