Importing a Pega 7.3 product to Pega 86

Hi,

We have an 86 upgraded dev environment which is a couple of months behind our actual 73 dev.

Would like to import the missing 73 dev products into 86 to make it current.

Is there any issue if we import 73 product into 86 or do we need to refresh 86 DB from 73 and re-run the upgrade.

@FromRajesh Its possible to import the Application RAP using import wizard. Post import, you might have to update the ruleset versions accordingly.

Just to clarify, if there is a 7.3 version product rule with couple of ruleset versions which is missing in 86 version, we should be able to import the product 7.3 product rule via Application=>Distribution=>Import into 86 version. Is that correct.

So that means the Pega 86 rule changes are backward compatible.

Are you referring to OOTB rules in Pega 7.3 platform is missing in Pega 8.6 version? Could you please clarify what rules were missing and the impact of the application, so that we shall suggest whether there are any alternate features available.

If application rules are missed in Pega 8.6 and were available in Pega 7.3, then we should be able to import via

Application=>Distribution=>Import .

I was able to import the 73 application product rules into 86 to make it current. Didnt face any issues and are testing the same.

@FromRajesh Hi Rajesh, quick question - did you follow any document/article for upgrading 7.3 to 8.6 ? We have a similar requirement of

On-Premise to On-Premise | App server - Web logic 12.1.3.0 | DB - Oracle 12.1.0.2 | From Pega 7.1.9 to Pega 8.6

Wondering if there is any specific document/approach you have followed and any reference of those would be of great help :slight_smile:

And which of the below options did you follow ?
Option 1 : Existing Pega 7.1.9 → upgrade tools → upgrade to Pega 8.6 and run any post upgrade steps ?
Option 2 : Take fresh Pega 8.6 → Migrate RAPs , etc other rules from Pega 7.1.9 to Pega 8.1.6 → run any post upgrade steps ?

Hi @AnantaKiran,

you will need to download the relevant Pega upgrade guide for the application server and follow the steps.

So if its tomcat/oracle, then pega-platform-86-upgrade-tomcat-oracle.pdf is used.
