Multi-step Form Navigation in Pega Infinity ’26 🧭

Multi-step Forms in Pega Constellation allow us to organize a single assignment into multiple form steps, helping users enter and review information in a structured sequence.

Typically, users navigate through these steps using the Next and Previous buttons. With Pega Infinity ’26.1, direct navigation between the form steps can also be enabled, allowing users to select a step indicator and move directly to the required step.

Enabling Multi-step Form Navigation

This behavior is controlled through feature flags available in the pyC11nFeatureMap Data Transform.

For this configuration, set the following properties to true:

  • pyEnableMultiStepFormJump – enables users to select a step indicator and navigate directly between form steps.
  • pyShowAllLabels – displays the labels for all the steps, making each step easier to identify.

After updating the configuration, save the changes and preview the application.

Runtime Behavior

At runtime, the step labels are displayed and the step indicators become selectable. Users can now navigate directly to another step instead of relying only on the Next and Previous buttons.

This provides more flexible navigation and makes it easier for users to revisit or update information within a Multi-step Form.

Thanks @MarcCheong

Thanks for sharing this. This will be very useful feature for my client who wanted more flexibility in navigating the multi steps.

Good info! An additional tip: On the assignment config in a multistep form, you can toggle “only allow navigate back to this step”. This is useful if you want users to be able to quickly navigate back to a step without repeating “previous” 100 times, but you also have critical processing running in inbetween steps that you always need to run if something changes in an earlier step. So it can be used nicely in conjunction with what you describe in the article to allow users to jump, but not “jump past” critical things.
