Is java8 supported on Pega Platform 8.8?

We are considering updating to 8.8, the latest version of Pega Platform.
However, in order to work with legacy applications, the version of Java installed on Pega Platform must be Java 8.
Please let us know if Java 8 can be used with Pega Platform 8.8.

@ArataI54 our Platform Support Guide access is temporarily Unavailable but I can confirm that Java 8 is no longer supported:

Each of the Java vendors will routinely issue maintenance that addresses security, performance, and stability issues in the JDK. Pegasystems recommends that this maintenance be applied on a periodic basis; clients’ JDKs should never be more than a year behind current JDK maintenance levels.

Thanks for the reply.
I found out that java8 is not supported.

@ArataI54 @MarijeSchillern Actually the 8.8 release still supports Java 8. It is “deprecated”, which means it is not the preference and that it will be fully de-supported in an upcoming release (likely the next Pega Platform release). But for 8.8 it is still compatible and supported.

@GabeEdwards Thanks for the clarification!
