Importing apps onto Blueprint

During a Test Drive, I began by working in Blueprint, progressively refining the design from an initial Blueprint to a High-Fidelity Blueprint. Once finalized, the Blueprint was imported into the Pega Platform to build a fully functional application.

After completing the development and configuration, I exported the workflow(s) back into Blueprint in order to run the Blueprint Estimator. During this step, I discovered that all integration data objects were defaulting their system of record to Pega (Local). As a result, I had to manually add the appropriate external systems of record and perform the required mappings so that the estimator could accurately identify the number of integrations and assess their complexity.

This is an important consideration to keep in mind when transitioning between Blueprint and the Pega Platform, as we had to do several times.

Let me see if I understand:

  1. You create a blueprint,
  2. import it into pega,
  3. make updates in Pega
  4. Generate a blueprint export from Pega
  5. Import the exported blueprint back into Blueprint

Is the issue is that post-blueprint import, you aren’t seeing the external SORs for the service infrastructure that you are importing back into Pega, or are you making updates in Pega and then trying to pull the updated blueprint into estimator to generate an estimate, or is it something else?

Your first statement: The SORs get lost and they all point back at Pega (local)

@borjj Are you having any challenges with fields/rules duplicating when you reimport the refined blueprint into the existing Pega application?

I didn’t see any duplicates, no.

I have seen this where

  • integration data objects are being defaulted from their system of record to Pega (Local)
  • some steps have been moved across processes and in/across stages.
  • Business rules have been removed from the configuration,

we are in the process of feeding these observations back to product as possible defects so if you have seen anything then please keep us posted.
