Adding an Authentication Service at application Security level prevents access to Users > User Management > Case Type in App Studio, raising:
“You are not authorized to update access configuration.”
Removing the Authentication Service restores functionality.

Is this an expected restriction tied to authentication configuration, or missing additional setup?
Open the developer operator’s Access Group in Pega (search for it in App Studio or Dev Studio under Security > Access Groups) and add the PegaRULES:SecurityAdministrator role to it. When an Authentication Service is configured at the application security level, Pega enforces stricter privilege checks on who can modify access configuration, and the default developer operator role does not automatically include this permission. Saving the updated Access Group and logging out, then back in, will apply the new role. After that, navigate to Users > User Management > Case Type in App Studio and the error will no longer appear, allowing you to manage access configuration while keeping the Authentication Service in place.
