Optional Actions allow users to perform additional tasks when needed without making them part of the primary case flow. They can be configured as case-wide actions or for a specific stage, depending on when they should be available.

In Pega Infinity ’26, selected Optional Actions can be promoted, allowing frequently used or important actions to have greater visibility on the main case page.
Configure and Promote Optional Actions
Add the required Optional Actions to the case type based on the business requirement. For example, a case may include Update Target Info, Change Stage, and Withdraw Target.
To give selected actions greater visibility, click Configure promoted actions in the case type. From the Actions & Processes configuration, select the actions or processes that should be promoted.
In this example, Update Target Info and Change Stage are selected as promoted actions.
Enable Promoted Actions in the Case Type UI
Navigate to the Case Type UI page and enable Show promoted actions.
This enables the configured promoted actions to be displayed on the case page at runtime.
Runtime Behavior
At runtime, the promoted actions are displayed directly on the main case page, making them more visible to users.
The remaining Optional Actions continue to be available from the Actions menu, so users can still access them when needed.
