Pega Robot Studio - resolution issues

Hello!

Started to learn the course Robotics System Architect. Now I am blocked with Task completion because I face multiple issue with Pega Robotic Studio.

First: Studio interface has layout issues → properties and other fields are not showing to me fully (I see fields partially).Icons are very small. I worked using tabs to jump into fields I need. Anyway this is not user-friendly tool in this condition. Please give support with descriptive guidelines how to set properly working tool for Automation.

Second: I have different design for object Explorer (comparing how it looks in the task). I don’t have Object Inspector, I cannot find the window with Events, Methods and other.

Screenshots in attachment.

Version 14.0.25420.1 D14REL

PEGA Robot Studio 19.1.66.0

P.S. Unfortunately all these issues blocking learning progress and decrease user experience on the provided tool.

Than you in advance for support.

@DarijaS91 It seems to me that your desktop scaling is off. What resolution are you using? 1920x1080 is recommended, but you can use a larger value if you have a monitor(s) that supports one. A smaller resolution will likely require overlap of some of the toolbar windows. I have used it on customer’s VDIs before with much lower resolutions though. You might set each toolbar to auto-hide to save screen real-estate.

What is your “Scale” set to? On the traditional Windows 10 Settings menu, the “Scale” is listed as “Change the size of text, apps, and other items”. A value of 100% here works best. Once you change this value, you will need to logout of your Windows session and back in to see the changes. From your screenshots, I can see all of the required controls, they are just partially obscured due to your scaling.

As for your differences in the way your “Properties” window appears versus those shown in the materials; we added a “Standard” mode to display only the most relevant properties. This allows you to see only the main ones you care about instead of the traditional Visual Studio list of every property. If you’d like to change it to visually match what you see in the materials, change the mode in the upper right corner of the “Properties” window to “Advanced”.

I would also suggest that you dock your toolbars to the sides of the Studio shell. You can drag the title bar of each of the windows and a tooltip will appear allowing you to dock it to one side since you appear to have them floating.

You might also check out our upcoming release (now called V22) that will be out in the near future. Here is a link to the preview release. The UI has been completely re-designed and no longer requires or uses Visual Studio 2015.

@ThomasSasnett Thank you for detailed reply.

Regarding Standard/Advanced properties → when I click advance Studio pop up fatal error message "Access to the path ‘C:\Users{me}\AppData\Roaming\Pegasystems\StandardProperties.xml’ denied and closes application.

I checked file properties - no restrictions identified.

Any concerns?

Kind Regards,

Darija

@DarijaS91 If you have some sort of restriction on that file location, that might cause it. You could try to delete that file after closing Studio and it should recreate on startup. Perhaps it has become corrupted. I can’t say that I have ever seen that, but it sure seems like an explanation that makes sense.
