alert message displayed from client side validation not announced by Jaws screenreader

Hello,

The default alert message ‘Please correct flagged fields before submitting the form!’, that is displayed when client side validation is not met, is not announced by the Jaws screen reader.

Currently, Jaws will only announce:

“ says dialog
OK Button
To activate press spacebar.”

The expectation is for Jaws to announce:

“ says dialog. 'Please correct flagged fields before submitting the form!
OK Button
To activate press spacebar.”

Hello,

Would anyone be able to provide feedback on how to ensure Jaws is able to read the text within a browser alert dialog that is triggered via client side validation?

Sincerely,

Regina

Hello,

This current issue occurs with Jaws 2019 and 2020. Would anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue of Jaws not announcing text within the browser alert dialog triggered by client side validation on a form field?

Sincerely,

Regina

Hi Regina,

This could very well be a Pega/JAWS issue. Please follow the below articles and see if any of these match your Pega version.

Thanks!
