Is there a way to download a personal edition is know that was decrepted from Pega 8.8 but is there a way to download 8.7 to understand the background of the application?

However it would not give you 8.7 of course. Anyway, 8.7 is out of support already and 8.8 will be out of support in October. Please see the calendar here for supported versions: https://docs.pega.com/bundle/keeping-current/page/keeping-current/kc/extended-support-policy.html
I would recommend upgrading ASAP to be on a supported version.
