Pega V8.1.2 support for Oracle version 19c

As per the Pega platform support guide, V8.1 supports Oracle 12c and does not support Oracle 19c. The latest update shows that only PegaV8.4 or 8.5 supports Oracle 19c.

Also, as per Oracle support documents, the premier support for Oracle 12c has ended on 31st July 2019 and extended support is ending soon in July 2021. Based on this, the Oracle DB team has decided to upgrade to Oracle 19c to be on the latest available version.

In this case, is there any feasibility to get a Hot-fix/branch release from the Pega engineering team to make Pega v8.1.2 support Oracle19c? An immediate Pega upgrade is not possible.

Requesting confirmation from Pega moderators/ engineering team members.

@Deven

You should not expect a revision to the DB and App server platforms that older versions of Pega are supported to operate on.

Just as the DBAs want to be on the latest version of Oracle to access the latest features and fixes, our Delivery Teams need to be driving clients to the latest version of Pega for the same reasons.

What makes a near term Pega upgrade not possible?

@BraamCLSA

We are still in implementation phase and hence would prefer to perform Pega upgrade after the implementation is completed.

However, since Oracle DB support is ending in Mar 22, hence there is a need to go for DB upgrade.

Please help to share if the existing Pega version 8.1 will be supported under Oracle 19c or any other changes/activities that can be performed to make it work.

Update - We tested our application(Pega 812) with Oracle 19c with no issues.
