Hi
Going through the BCM documentation on Pega Datasite we notice that eg. in the “Pega Disaster Recovery Test Plan and Test Results” for AWS the concept of "Availability Zones" is used. Every quarter testing is performed in different availability zones.
We notice that different notions in dvarious documents and on the Pega website are used the may or may not overlap:
-
On the Pega website a different notion 'Deployment Regions" is used. This term is also used in the Pega Production Schedule” that NWB Bank signed on 12/04/22 which states ‘Frankfurt’ as deployment region. The same terms is also used on the Deployment regions for Pega Cloud.
-
in the Pega “Data Protection Agreement (DPA)” that NWB bank signed on 12/04/22, Article 5 on Data Residency and Data Transfer. This document mentions “Regional zone”
Could you please define and explain differences (if any) and relations between each of the three notions? Thanks in advance
@FlorisB16924794 refer to broader geographic areas where Pega Cloud services can be deployed. These regions are selected by clients based on legal locational or proximity requirements. For instance the Deployment Regions for Pega Cloud include various locations such as AWS: USA Northern Virginia AWS: Germany Frankfurt and others. The term ‘Deployment Regions’ is used in client contracts and documentation to specify where the services are hosted. Additionally the Data Protection Agreement (DPA) mentions ‘Regional zones’ in the context of data residency and data transfer ensuring that client data is stored and managed within the selected Deployment Region. This segmentation helps in meeting data sovereignty and compliance requirements.

@FlorisB16924794 Further to above conversation we have a follow on question that relates to the quarterly failover and restore testing that Pega performs and that are reported on the Datasite (in section Pega Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery/ Pega Cloud). In these documents it is clear different availability zones/ deployment regions/ regional zones are tested each quarter.
Can you confirm that at least once a year a EU based availability zone/ deployment region/ regional zone is tested?
@golep1 would you be able to find a CloudOps SME to answer this question?
@MarijeSchillernany news?
@FlorisB16924794 I have contacted SME’s and am waiting for their response.
@feinb is this a question you could help with?
@FlorisB16924794 as your question appears to touch on contractual terms I would suggest that you get in touch with your Pega Account Executive to discuss your questions further.
