Pass current user information to an Insight

In App Studio, on the “My Dashboard” landing page, when I’m trying to configure a data page associated with an RD for an insight, I’m encountering the message: “This data source supports a limited set of features.”

As a result, I am unable to access certain items. My requirement is to display a chart with the necessary filters by configuring a data page for the insight.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Background

This was a long running conversation but I’ll do my best to summarise:

  • There was a datapage that was being used in an insight, it did not have “allow query any column” ticked
  • The desired outcome, after diving in with the “5 y’s”, we wanted to filter the insight based on logged in user information

Answer

You have 3 options (in my opinion).

  1. Dynamic filters are applied when you place this on a landing page
  2. Promoted filter - can’t be dynamic but you can default a value (by saving the insight with that default value, so depends how many work groups you have)
  3. No chart - don’t use a chart, just use a table and you can use non-queryable datapages
