Optimize Summary tab in Constellation

Hi everyone,

We need to optimize the Summary tab (making it two columns) to reduce the amount of whitespace when it is collapsed.

Is there a way to do this in Constellation?

You can look at the below post which has a similar requirement/question,

Thanks for your input @JayachandraSiddipeta

Does this also apply for the summary tab as we configure it differently compared to the other views?

I am afraid for summary tab you can only include fields and widgets. Hence you may not be able to apply this approach to it.

Alternatively, you can only put basic information in Summary tab and move all your display fields into a partial view where you can configure the custom component and then include it as a tab.

I know summary tab is the default tab to show up, but with its limited features, i guess this is the best i can suggest for now.

Other community members can pitch in, if you have a better approach.

If you want to show a Summary tab in Constellation, you don’t need to rely on the built‑in summary view directly. Instead, you can use the tab column layout in the full page view:

In the full page view, add a tab column.

Create a new tab (for example, “Summary”) and place it inside the tab column.

Within this tab, you can design the layout however you need, for example, a two‑column or three‑column arrangement.

Add any sections, fields, or widgets you want to display in the Summary tab.

You can also add multiple tabs under the tab column if needed, so the Summary tab becomes one among several.

This way, you have full control over the content and layout of the Summary tab, rather than depending on the default summary view.

@VonRafaelR16606415 Also an additional thing is that if you keep the Summary block empty without adding any entries, then the first entry from the Tabs would be always the default to show up (default selected) when you open the case. In the below Scenario, Details tab is always the default selected. Summary Tab will still show up anyway with Urgency and Work Status. I believe that’s the default setup.

Left navigation expanded

Left Navigation collapsed

As @SwatiS90 suggested, you can setup the first entry from Tabs to build your own view with simple or complex nested tabbed layouts and showcase the information as per your business requirements.

Hope this helps
