I am using a Macbook Pro with M2 Max processor. I downloaded the LinuxLite-Pega882.ova file from the latest version Pega Academy course of Lead System Architect and when I am trying to run it through VMWare Fusion after it has been imported, it is giving the below error:-
This virtual machine cannot be powered on because it requires the X86 machine architecture, which is incompatible with this Arm machine architecture host.
I have also tried running the VM using VirtualBox but still it is not running. For this case, after we start the VM, it starts up and aborts after few minutes.
If you need further help could you use the correct Contact Us form from the Pega Academy site?
Please check out all available links on the Pega Academy FAQ pages.
@eddie.jm do you recognize the error listed above?
Could we update the Managing your Pega instance FAQ page to mention troubleshooting issues with these .ova files downloaded from the SharePoint Classroom Material locations?
Hi @SubhajitC16577932, that error message says it all
The VM provided in the LSA mission is based on the (Intel-based) X86 machine architecture. If you are using a Mac with the M1 or M2 chips, you will not be able to run the VM - in any VM Player.
There is no workaround, as you cannot convert the OVA directly.
Hi @MarijeSchillern, I will update the FAQs to include more information about the VM used in the LSA mission. See my reply directly to Subhajit - the VM will not run on an M1 or M2-based Mac.
