Hello everyone,
I need some help regarding left navigation options. I am looking at this demo URL.
https://design.pega.com/version/8.8/fullPageDemo/?demo=AppShellDemo
I need to setup a navigation option having multiple nested options as shown in the demo URL. Attached is the image for reference
Appreciate your response
Thanks
Jayachandra
@JayachandraSiddipeta this is an old link? The current design is here, and has no such nested navigation menus.
This can not be achieved with out of the box configuration.
Suggestion
Before you start looking at your own DX Components, which would be time consuming. Might I suggest you look at the various Landing Page templates available in Authoring? I’ve seen the tabbed display work quite well in achieving the business outcome of “grouping like landing pages together so they are easier to find”
Dashboard
I don’t know your use case, but Dashboards also offer a way of grouping a lot of Landing Pages together (a table of different dashboards that you can search/open)
@MarcCheongWe are exploring various possibilities and features in constellatio, so that we would know the boundaries in order to keep the client expectations in check. May i have the approach or sample implementation of how nested navigation can be implemented with DX component.
We are already in process of building in-house DX components for various scenarios (around 12 already built) as part of our exploration. So this component would also be an addition to our knowledge base.
Appreciate your quick response.
Thanks

@JayachandraSiddipetaI would strongly suggest against it. Not only is it high code, its something you/client will have to maintain. It also sets a precedent for recreating Pega OOTB for every small taste difference in UI. Constellation is avout offering our clients the fatest possible time to market.
I would explore OOTB options to meet this business need. Design.pega.com does not give you OOTB configurations available to you as an app author.
That said, you can see articles like this, that both show you how to mess with Pega Portals and also responses showing possible pain points you’d get.
@MarcCheong Completely agree with you on using OOTB components always. Appreciate your time taken to respond.
Thanks

@JayachandraSiddipeta no problems. I was on mobile when i responded, really wanted to share this image with you at the time. Given Constellation unlocks semantic URLs for just about every page and case, you could look to group them in this way too. Click on a page on the left, it then gives you a list of subpages.
The image below was created for another reason, see Switching portals and access groups in Constellation | Support Center, however, it can apply for this. I think its actually even better than a expand/collapse on left hand panel - here you can provide detail descriptions of what is in each landing page, not just a single short name. IF you have a lot of landing pages in your app, it opens up the risk users can’t find what they are after, so in this case a more tailored configuration might help?
