Email listeners should be configured based on the use cases and the number of email accounts you want to listen to. Most of the times, email listeners is in pooling state and it comes to processing state when an email arrives. There are several other factors that can impact the infrastructure apart from the number of listeners such as number of emails, email size, attachment size.
We do not recommend a limit on the number of listeners as it depends on several other factors such as infrastructure, number of emails, size etc.
