Instructions for multiple fields within single Field Group

Hi
How should we configure more complex instructions for a set of fields if we need to format the instructions somehow (i.e. make a list)?

The field instruction text is not formatabble and can just provide short, contextual information. Field groups have a nice way of displaying formatted instructions - but they apply to the whole Field Group → we would have to introduce additional Field Groups just to accommodate instructions. Partial views with 2-column layout might be configured to display a pair: “field + instruction” but these are available read-only.

Thanks for support!

@Maciej Dybal the Constellation Design System has four places for showing information in context to a business user:

  1. Assignment instructions - this shows up at the top of a form.
    1. Configured in the top level View
  2. Helper text on a field - this shows up as helper text under the field.
    1. Configured in a View, gear icon on the property
  3. Instructions on a Form Group.
    1. Configured in the View, gear icon on the Form Group
  4. Additional Information on a field- this shows up as an Information Icon, once clicked it will show the text
    1. This can be found in the advanced section when creating a new field in the Data Model Tab of a Case or Data Object
  5. Contextual message to a field - a warning shown based on conditions
    1. New to infinity '25

Item 4 is commonly missed, as the others are configured in the View itself. However, this is done at the data model level. It is item 4, that allows formatting and even images.

  • This makes sense to me. If we allowed images and rich text all over the form, then usability and accessibility to easily be broken. I have seen examples where its all over the place and makes the form very busy and difficult to use.

The modal that shows when looking at more details about that field nicely contains any further details you need, in rich text format.

There are ways to extend your UI and do other things, infinite possibilities, however, these are the Out of the Box ways of providing contextual information and instructions.

More information can be found here.

@Maciej Dybal Starting from Infinity 25, you can configure dynamic form instructions, using the Dynamic text rule option. Image can also be added.

In future release we want to provide more visually formating options for the same.!
