Hi
How should we configure more complex instructions for a set of fields if we need to format the instructions somehow (i.e. make a list)?
The field instruction text is not formatabble and can just provide short, contextual information. Field groups have a nice way of displaying formatted instructions - but they apply to the whole Field Group → we would have to introduce additional Field Groups just to accommodate instructions. Partial views with 2-column layout might be configured to display a pair: “field + instruction” but these are available read-only.
Item 4 is commonly missed, as the others are configured in the View itself. However, this is done at the data model level. It is item 4, that allows formatting and even images.
This makes sense to me. If we allowed images and rich text all over the form, then usability and accessibility to easily be broken. I have seen examples where its all over the place and makes the form very busy and difficult to use.
The modal that shows when looking at more details about that field nicely contains any further details you need, in rich text format.
There are ways to extend your UI and do other things, infinite possibilities, however, these are the Out of the Box ways of providing contextual information and instructions.
