IE to Microsoft Edge migration for Pega Robotics

Hi,

We are trying to assess the effort for IE to Edge migration for PegaRobotics. Just got few questions by reading through below post. Thanks!

  1. Will the patch releasing in Jan’2021 will address anything? Like IE controls to Edge with re-interrogation enable launch in Edge rather than IE for non compatible sites?

  2. With Edge, do we have to just re-interrogate existing controls captured in IE so that they will be available for Automation or do we have to build existing projects in Universal Web Adapter mode?

  3. Do we have to upgrade to any 19.* version for Studio/RunTime in order to get Edge working?

  1. I don’t understand what you are asking here.

  2. As stated in the prior post, Edge support is coming to the Universal Web Adapter. You’ll need to re-interrogate your applications if they are switching to Edge from IE as it will require a new adapter. You can replace your controls in your current automations with the controls from the UWA rather than write every automation from scratch.

  3. You will need to upgrade to the latest version of Studio/Runtime when Edge support is released in order to get that functionality.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your response. I think 1 got answered in #2. So I’m all good. So by Jan’2021, we can except the new version of Studio/Runtime that will support Edge browser?

As far as I know the target date is still mid-January. If you want to start your migration, you can interrogate your apps in Chrome to make sure they run natively and are not using Compatibility Mode as that support hasn’t been announced yet.
