[HELP] Issue Installing Pega Mobile 24 Over Existing 8.3 Application – Package Conflict Error

Hello,

Currently, we are using Pega Mobile version 8.3, which has already been installed and published on the Play Store.

We are planning to upgrade to Pega Platform version 24 and have generated a new mobile application build using the latest version.

However, we are encountering an issue during the installation process of the Pega Mobile version 24 application.

If version 8.3 is still installed on the device, installing version 24 results in the following error:

“App not installed as package conflicts with existing package.”

The version 24 application can only be installed if we:

  1. Uninstall Pega Mobile 8.3 first, and

  2. Then install Pega Mobile 24.

Based on our research, this issue may be caused by a difference in the signing key / keystore used when building versions 8.3 and 24.

However, the challenge is:

  • During the mobile app build process in Pega, there is no explicit option to define or upload a specific signing key / keystore.

  • The Bundle ID / Package Name has already been verified and is the same for both versions 8.3 and 24.

Questions:

  1. Is it possible to install the newer version of Pega Mobile without uninstalling the previous version first?

  2. If yes, how can we ensure that the same signing key / keystore is used during the build process in Pega?

  3. Or is it the expected/best practice to uninstall the previous version before installing the new one?

Thank you for your assistance.
