DX Components beyond React – What’s Next for Angular and Web Components?

Hi @MarcCheong @Kamil Janeczek

I understand that today Custom DX components can be built and published only using React, while the Constellation SDK supports React, Angular, and Web Components for external portals.

Are there any future plans to allow Angular or Web Component–based DX components to be published and consumed directly inside Pega (similar to React DX components)?

Scenario:
Consider a customer whose organization has Angular as the enterprise-wide UI standard and wants to adopt Pega Constellation without introducing React as an additional UI stack.

While I understand that Pega OOTB components are built in React to handle styling, security, performance, and consistency, customers may want to:

  • Build custom DX components using Angular

  • Reuse their existing Angular UI frameworks, design systems, security libraries, and governance

  • Avoid maintaining two parallel UI ecosystems (Angular + React)

In such cases, will Pega consider enabling Angular or Web Component DX components to be packaged, published, and managed like React DX components within Constellation?

Would love to understand Pega’s product roadmap direction or recommended architectural approach for this scenario.

Thanks

JC

Hi,
thanks for question. While I asked dedicated team to answer this question with respect to product roadmap, there is one thing that I would like to point out.

Even if technically possible to built non React DX Components, this doesn’t mean that clients should be bringing in their own styling assets.

DX Components are built with assumption in mind that they are used inside ootb portal so they follow Constellation Design System not a client DS.

@JayachandraSiddipeta Reiterating what Kamil already mentioned- Custom DX components are meant to extend the constellation design system with more componentry with regards to what cannot be immediately added to the product or is something very specific for an enterprise. Having said that i would also want to understand , what is the use case for an org where we will have most of the features taken care of by React+Constellation design system and some extensions coming in Angular and WebComponent .
Its not in the roadmap yet, though technically its something that would be feasible and we will evaluate and publish.
