Difference between Pega DocAI Connect & GenAI Connect

Hi all,

I’m aware of GenAI Connect, which can also help with document extraction. In what scenarios would DocAI Connect be the preferred choice? Could someone share the key use cases and differences between the two?

Thanks! @RameshSangili

Hi @VenkateswararaoK, this is the same feature, just with a different terminology based on the usage.
When you are using the GenAI Connect rule type to process attachments, then you use it in its DocAI capacity. There is no separate rule type for DocAI.

Besides the GenAI Connect rule usage for document extraction within the automated flow, it is also possible to have your users upload documents in the conversational Agent interaction, and you can provide your agents with instructions and tools to map the content to your data model.

So this means there are broadly two options to process documents using GenAI:

  1. When document processing is part of your case lifecycle, and should always happen if the process reaches this point >> Use GenAI Connect with the ‘Include attachment field for analysis’ set to true
  2. When document processing is something your end user might ask for ad-hoc as part of a conversational interaction with an Agent in Constellation >> Use the OOTB capabilities of the conversational agent, potentially paired with specific tools to map the document content to your data model

Hope that clarifies your question
