Customizing Cosmos React components

According to slide 13 from this presentation given by Vinay Kamath in June of this year, it should be possible to add custom components to Cosmos React, or even create a completely separate design system next to Cosmos React.

However, apart from this slide, I’ve been unable to find any documentation or forum questions about this. Can someone explain to me how this would work and what the steps are to create such components or a separate design system?

  • How are custom elements made available to Pega?

  • Can they be configured in Pega App Studio (e.g., enter content to be displayed in a custom component)? And if so, how?

  • And a more specific question: can the AppShell component from Cosmos React be replaced with such a custom component?

@RonD2484 Pega 8.6 does not provide yet the ability to write custom React components - We are actively working on this functionality and you will get more details in the release notes and associated documentation once we provide this functionality in upcoming releases.

Cosmos React in 8.6 is for early adopter - This link provides more details on the UI Capability in 8.6: Pegasystems Documentation. In the known limitations for Cosmos React UI, you will find the mention of ‘Designing and building custom layouts or components’
