Is there a way to set a fixed width for a table in Constellation or ensure that the table fits within the available UI space?
When a table contains many columns, all columns are not visible within the UI, and a horizontal scrollbar appears to access the remaining columns. We have the option to define column widths as percentages, but we must provide one column to automatically take the remaining available width as per the default configuration.
As shown in the image below, the last column automatically expands to occupy the remaining screen width, resulting in uneven column sizing. Could you please advise whether there is a way to control this behavior, set a fixed table width, or configure the table to fit within the UI without affecting column alignment?
Hello, If we have an option to provide width as percentages, can we not define the width accordingly? Like, if we have 10 columns, give each column 10 percent. Or if we have 5, we give each 20. Can you try this? In this way, from what I understood, All columns should have same width.
By default, Pega Constellation calculates and distributes table column widths dynamically based on the available space and the column content/header.
We can also configure a custom column width for individual columns. However, in our testing, the custom width is applied to most columns, while the first and last columns may still be adjusted by the table layout to consume the remaining available space.
Because of this, setting fixed widths for every column does not always result in a completely fixed table layout.
My recommendation is to keep the default dynamic sizing unless a specific column requires a custom width. This provides better responsiveness across different screen sizes.
If required, users can also temporarily resize the columns at runtime by dragging the vertical column separator/border.
So, custom widths can be used where necessary, but for general usage it is better to rely on the default responsive column sizing provided by Constellation.
Thanks @VVNagaSaiN for the response. I’m using Pega 25.1.3, and it only provides the option to set column widths in pixels (px). There doesn’t appear to be an option to specify the width as a percentage (%).
