Agentic use cases - when is Pega a good fit, how do our other capabilities enrich, support or replace the need for agents

Determining when Agentic capabilities are a good fit is a process in and of itself. Agentic creativity is both a blessing and curse when it is used in todays solutions. HOw do we determine where to leverage capabilities while ensuring we don’t forget about traditional AI and deterministic business rules. Attached is a framework that provides a strategic foundation for Financial Services Enterprises to accelerate digital transformation through appropriate artificial intelligence or business rules. By categorizing AI capabilities into key domains, it enables Financial Services Enterprises to identify, evaluate, and deploy solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing technology ecosystems. Each capability is designed to deliver measurable business value, support robust governance, and foster innovation across all lines of business. The inclusion of a detailed Pega capability matrix further demonstrates practical implementation pathways and differentiators, ensuring that decision-makers can align AI investments with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. How are you addressing this new technology landscape?

one good way to handle this is to start with the business decision, not the technology. Use Pega when the work needs clear workflows, audit trails, business rules, and controlled actions across systems, because that is where Pega is strongest. Then add agentic AI only for tasks that need reasoning, summarization, research, or guided decision support, but keep the final execution inside governed Pega processes. Use traditional AI for prediction and pattern detection, and use deterministic rules for compliance, policy, and anything that must always behave the same way. This creates a layered model where agents assist, AI predicts, and Pega controls the outcome end to end. That is the safest and most practical way to adopt this landscape in financial services.
