Use of skills from different applications for the operator.

I would like to reach an understanding regarding the use of Skill in the operator structure.

I have a situation here in which the same operator can access and perform actions in different Pega applications within a division. Evaluating, in the operator configuration I can associate it with different workgroups and workbaskets, as it is looking at my organizational structure.

In the scenario I have today, an operator of application A may have the possibility of using application B - So far ok, common, however, this operator, when configured, may have the possibility of having the skill configured in application A and the skill configured in application B. I understand that if I have a common skill between applications, I could add an organizational layer to be able to see the common rule. However, I have a scenario where the skill is application specific, but this user can access application A and application B and the business team wants him to be able to see the skill in the operator configuration

I would like some support to formalize the understanding of how the skill rule works in the operator structure and see if there is today the possibility for an operator to see skills from different applications, without the need to go down to a common application - in this case, the application layer organizational.

Hi @GuiValino1984

Skill rules dont have applies to class so class is not something you need to worry about as far as sharing skills across application is concerned. The only thing that may stop sharing skills is the ruleset where you are defining the skill. You may have to place the skills in such a ruleset where it accessible to all the applications under your division so that it can be shared accross.

@SrijitaB thanks for the feedback. With this explanation, I understand that if I have operators who will use several applications, when considering understanding the use of skills, it needs to be evaluated, which skills may be common for this operator to work on different applications in order to consider saving these rules at a level like Enterprise Layer, correct?

@GuiValino1984

Yes that is correct

Since skills are associated with rulesets, so you have to first identify the common skills across multiple applications and keep them in a common ruleset for making them accessible to all the applications.
