The instruction works, but I don't understand why it works.

I’m in the lesson:
System Architect > Data and Integration Essentials > Validating data in Dev Studio
Task 1 Configure the validate rule
Step 13: To the right of Additional Validation, enter or select EnterPaymentInformation to ensure the entered expiration date is before today.

I don’t understand what is going on.
I start by creating a validate rule called ValidateCardInformation.
Then I add this “Enter Payment Validation” to the rule to check the expiration date.
But then for task #2 of the lesson, I go into the flow and replace EnterPaymentInformation with ValidateCardInformation.

I’m confused.
