Need more info about Presentation Component

Hi everyone,

In the latest Pega release, I came across the new Presentation component type, designed to customize the full case view structure (referencing the documentation here: Pegasystems Documentation).

However, I haven’t come across any concrete sample implementations, repository templates, or boilerplate examples to use as a starting reference for building custom ones.

Has anyone worked with these yet or know of sample components or GitHub repos demonstrating how to structure and implement them? Any insights or starter code would be greatly appreciated!

This is a new option available when creating a custom DX component. I selected Case Presentation as the component type and, without making any code changes, published it and tested it in the application.

I’ve attached screenshots comparing the default case presentation and the newly created Case Presentation component.

From my understanding, the main difference is around how we can control the overall case layout. In the standard case view, the Case Summary panel on the left can be expanded or collapsed as part of the default Pega behavior.

With a custom Case Presentation component, we can define the case structure in our own way. For example, instead of keeping the summary information inside a collapsible left panel, we could design it to remain always visible at the top of the case or arrange the different case regions based on our application’s requirements.

So, this appears to provide more control over the overall case presentation/layout, rather than just customizing an individual field or view.

I haven’t made any implementation changes yet—the screenshots are from simply creating the Case Presentation component, publishing it, and using it with the default generated code.

Thanks for the response.

I got the purpose of it. But, it would be better if we can have few working examples similar to other types of components so that agents can look at them as reference and help us in creating new ones.

That’s a valid point. Having working examples or sample repositories would definitely help developers get started more quickly.

Since the Presentation component is relatively new and sample implementations appear to be limited, we can currently use the official Pega documentation and the default generated component code as references. We can experiment with different case layouts and gradually build our own reusable examples.

Hopefully, Pega will provide more working examples and starter templates in future releases.
