Language translation from ANY Language to English language

Hi Everyone,

We have an application that supports multiple languages. On the final screen, we invoke a Connect REST integration to send the case data to an external system and receive a complaint number in the response.

Since users can submit data in different languages, we have a requirement to convert the entered data into English before invoking the Connect REST API. Once the translation is completed, the transformed English data should be sent to the external system.

Could you please suggest the best approach to achieve this in Pega?

Specifically:

  • Is there any out-of-the-box capability in Pega for language translation before calling a Connect REST?
  • Would integrating with a translation service such as Azure Translator, Google Translate, or another API be the recommended approach?

Hi @SatishR

Using an external translation api would be a preferred method. You would need to call the api to get the english content before sending english data to downstream.
I would suggest storing the original text and the translated content in separate properties for future audit trail purposes.

If you are considering using an LLM for translation, please note that newer versions of pega provide a gen ai connect rule which can also be used to do a translation. However, please be aware of the risks that come with AI based responses.

I recommend to use Gen AI connect rule to translate the data to English before you trigger the final call.
