Is it best practice to apply common logic in Post Load Processing of a data page when there are optional data sources

Setup:

  • Data page with multiple data sources
  • Only one data source is chosen using if-else-otherwise logic
  • Not sure it matters, but in this case each data source refers to a data transform
  • Some new simple logic (calculation whose result is saved to DP results) needs to be applied regardless of data source selected.

Question: Is it better practice to create a new data transform rule with the logic and then call the new data transform from each data source’s data transform OR create a post load processing activity on the data page and do the logic at the end?

In order to set common properties(like in your example), it is generally preferred to use the datapage’s post load processing.

In future, if other sources are added to the datapage, this will ensure that the post processing logic is also applied for any newly added sources.
