How to update a parent case using update case shape when working on a child case

We have default locking mechanism and user 1 is working on both parent and child case ,if user1 tries to update child case data to parent case by using update case shape,will he be allowed to do so?(we have checked the allow working on parent case checkbox here.)

I think it works fine. As the user is same, there won’t be a locking issue as well.
