Failed to initialize StreamAPI

Hello there,

We are trying to install Pega 23.1 on GCP in GKE environment. Successfully installed Pega-SRS search services. While installing / deploying Pega helm charts, we get error “Does not have minimum availability” on pega pod. The logs of the same pod show following error;

“Failed to initialize StreamAPI: attempt 1 from 6. Next retry in 20 seconds”.

We have externalized kafka in a separate VM and updated Pega helm charts to point to kafka vm (i.e., bootstrapServer value in helm chart has IP address of VM with port 9092).

I don’t seem to get pass through this error despite trying multiple approaches and ideas. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The issue was related to how kafka was installed. After installing kafka as a service, the issue got resolved.
