Whenever you open pulse either in the portal as widget or inside a case context you only have one view. My attached document describes step by step how to add tabs to the default view and pre-populate specific UI filters.
Important note: It is not recommended to customize Pulse. My attached implementation only applies filters to Pulse feeds; so, when upgrading from 8.5.1 to any version check for compatibility and impact.
