Can read only datapages be used to edit fields on UI in a grid display?

Hi ,

We are on platform 24 and a UI kit based application.
We have a requirement to display a table with multiple records and users will be able to update data of some columns in the table. The source of the table is a read only datapage (thread scope) sourced by a report definition.
Can rows in the table still be edited from the UI layer with the source being a read only datapage?

We are not adding new rows, but trying to modify existing information. For example, users can change the value of a displayed column in the 2nd row ? And, we are using basic grid operations like on-change–> post value, refresh section.
We are not intending to persist this information back to the database, but we just need the clipboard updated for subsequent functionality to use the updated data.

We see that the data is still getting updated on the clipboard through our UI, but wanted to check if there are any catches and if we are missing anything.
Because as per the documentation , read only datapages shouldn’t allow updates to clipboard data after load, and supposed to throw a read only exception if we try to do so.

Please note that we are trying to reuse an existing readonly page without creating a new one.

Best practice is to make the data page as editable. Even though you see the temperorary updates to data page, you would face issues. Theoritically you wouldnt see updates to read only data pages. So if you dont want to save data to database but want them in clipboard use editable data page.
