Hi, we are trying to build a blended UI solution for our client. They have a large public-facing UI-Kit application that has been running in Production past 6 years. We’re trying to adopt Constellation UI system, and here is one use case that might offer a good entry point. Client use case From an existing UI-Kit case type, we have to launch a questionnaire case type to complete a series of questions and use the captured answers to continue processing in the UI-Kit case. We’re envisioning to launch the questionnare case type in Constellation. Limitation We learned that parent-child relationship is not supported with UI-Kit case as a parent case, thus we plan to launch the Constellation case as a top-level case. Scenario steps Step 1 - Click a link from an UI-Kit case to launch a questionnaire case (built on Constellation) [image] This successfully launches the Constellation case within the UI-Kit application context. Step 2 - Answer the questionaire. [image] Step 3 - Resolve the questionnaire case. [image] At this point, the user needs to go back to the starting UI-Kit case and continue processing. Question Is there an easy way to go back to the UI-Kit case? We don’t want the user to go back to the My Worklist and search for the UI-Kit case. We also don’t want the user to go to the Recent section and search for the UI-Kit case. Client wants a more streamlined way to go back to the UI-Kit without additional clicks. One option is to add a link to the Constellation case where user can click to go back to the UI-Kit case (and open the last assigment automatically). How can this be achieved? Or, is there any alternative to achieve the same outcome? Thanks in advance.

One solution is to use My Work landing page to navigate back to the UI-Kit case. My Work landing page has a list that contains both UI-Kit and Constellation cases that can be opened. This article has some relevant information: How to launch a Constellation case from a UI-Kit case and exchange data

Hi @Will_Cho , Could you please check the option to use Remote Case type? I have implemented in my earlier project to communicate between 2 different UI architectures. We launch the Constellation case from UI Kit application to move forward with the workflow. Constellation Case type will be embedded into the UI Kit Case type, so you have better control to navigate without losing the context.

I wasn’t aware that remote case types could be used as part of a UI-Kit and Constellation blended architecture. Do you happen to have any articles or documentation with screenshot that can help me get started with this approach? It will be great if you have any screenshot showing the needed configurations and end result.

@MarcCheong Thanks for sharing the URP mapping approach. I haven’t used it myself, but it sounds like an interesting option. Do you happen to have any articles, documentation, or implementation examples that could help me get started? Any screenshot of showing the configuration would be helpful, too. In addition, I’m also curious whether there are any known security considerations with using a direct URL mapping to launch a case type or portal page as our application is public facing to general US population.

The link shared does go through URL mappings with configuration screenshots https://forums.pega.com/t/theme-cosmos-open-work-object-in-full-portal-on-copy-sharable-link/635 I have also used this one to help with implementing a solution https://collaborate.pega.com/question/application-alias-urls-open-id-sso BUT it was so old it was never migrated to Pega Forums :frowning: Security wise, I don’t see any issues, so long as you have an authentication service set up on your application rule then you’ll still come in via SSO. The URL mapping is just taking the params in the URL to get you to the right place - in fact, Constellation does this, its just all OOTB for you so you don’t have to do all this (see Deep linking and Semantic URL).

@MarcCheong Thanks for the additional information. I did a quick POC and was able to launch the UI-Kit case from the Constellation case. The URL Mapping rule is defined in the UI-Kit application. Then in the Constellation case, I used an URL-type field to open the UI-Kit case. [image] [image] One issue is that the UI-Kit case is opened in a new browser tab. I wonder if there is a way to launch it inside the existing application to meet our client need, instead of in a new browser tab.

Hi Will, This was implemented for a customer about a year back. I don’t have the screenshots with me. We are able to launch the UI Kit application within Constellation and vice versa through Remote Case type. Open in New tab will not be an issue here, since it works similar to web Embed. Please note: It will create a dummy case type in the producer application. Pegasystems Documentation

@Will_Cho what about URL mapping? You’re taking me back many years but I have done URL mappings for Theme-Cosmos and had to deconstruct what UI Kit Correspondence rules did to create a link to open the case directly.

If you could derive the URL then you should be able to provide a URL in your Constellation case that would launch the UI Kit case?
