Search & Select is useful when users need to find and select records from a large set of reference data. As the volume of data increases, finding the right record efficiently becomes more important.

With Pega Infinity ’26, Search & Select provides a more flexible experience for working with these larger result sets. Similar to Insights, users can interact with the search results using grouping, sorting, and filtering.
Grouping Search Results
Search results can be configured with a default grouping, allowing records to be organized as soon as the search is performed.
Users can also add or change grouping directly at runtime. Multiple levels of grouping can be applied to further organize the results, and these additional groups can be removed when they are no longer required.
This makes large result sets much easier to navigate.
Sorting and Filtering
Similar to Insights, users can interact directly with the columns in the search results.
Results can be sorted in ascending or descending order, while filters can be applied to display only records matching specific criteria.
Instead of searching through a long list of records, users can quickly narrow the results to the information they need.
User Personalization
Another useful capability is User Personalization.
When enabled, users can control the visibility of columns and choose which information they want to see in the Search & Select results.
This provides a more personalized experience, particularly when the result set contains many columns that may not be relevant to every user.
User Personalization can be enabled directly in the Search category configuration by selecting Allow user edit column visibility, which allows users to show or hide columns at runtime.
Conclusion
These capabilities bring a more Insights-like experience to Search & Select, giving users greater control over how they explore the results.
With grouping, sorting, filtering, and personalization, Search & Select provides a much better user experience when working with large data sets in Constellation.
